phpGoogleStore Discontinued

Well, the time has finally come to discontinue this project. Once upon a time there was nothing (freely) available, opensource or otherwise, that would allow you to use Google's Maps application to create a "store locator". Over the last 6 years things have changed dramatically in this arena and I'm glad to have helped shape what the community into what it is now. I believe this project has trumped all of the commercial attempts to keep google's maps behind lock and key and has given many people the inspiration needed to continue the effort. All of the features that phpGoogleStoreLocator had are now available in Drupal's GMaps module. I use this module myself as well as help contribute code back to it and I recommend anyone who is thinking about trying to create/install/use a store locator app to look at this first. The installations are very easy and in the end you will end up with an excellent CMS/Framework as well as a snazzy new store locator. Simply download drupal, get it running, then install the gmaps module and you're done. You then start entering your locations (in drupal they are called nodes) and then you can use the extremely powerful Views module to create any kind of map you could possible dream of.

You can download Drupal and the gmaps module here:

Another interesting drupal project of note is http://drupal.org/location. It is affiliated with gmaps and together is called "Mapadelic".

This link is a listing of most of the current Drupal Geospatial projects (though its not complete yet), it compares almost all of them and is a good resource. This is how I learned about the drupal OpenLayers project and it looks very promising as well.

If you are interested in seeing what other things I've been up to, check this out: http://wow.crystaldawn.net. This is my private World of Warcraft server. It's just a few friends and I that play on this but it's been an interesting project. I do not administrate the server any longer as I've passed that on to another person but I do show up here and there at times and I still host the server itself. I also help the current admin when he gets stuck on something that he cannot fix. He's an awesome guy (TLEXII is his username), be nice to him!
